MTC Hosts Inaugural Grants Day

On April 30, 2025, the Missouri Technology Corporation (MTC) hosted its inaugural Grants Day in Columbia, MO. This event brought together entrepreneurial support organizations (ESOs), nonprofits, and higher education institutions from across the state to explore strategies for advancing innovation, supporting entrepreneurs, and securing competitive grant funding. The event sold out, with all 35 tickets available claimed by representatives from more than 20 organizations. Attendees participated in an opening session by MTC Executive Director and CEO Jack Scatizzi, who emphasized the organization’s mission to catalyze innovation-led economic development throughout Missouri. The day featured a range of presentations, including an overview of MTC’s grant programs, insights into Missouri’s IDEA Fund (a state-sponsored venture capital initiative), best practices for grant management and compliance from Forvis Mazars, and an introduction to NEXT Missouri’s efforts to strengthen the state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem through advocacy. Participants also engaged in interactive discussions and networking activities designed to foster collaboration and exchange. A panel of current MTC grantees, Emily-Lohse-Busch, (39 North), Quinten Messbarger (Missouri Innovation Center, Inc.), and Rachel Munday, (efactory – Missouri State University), shared practical advice and key lessons learned from their experiences. Attendees gained valuable insights, new and stronger connections, and deepened their understanding of strategies to enhance their work.
